New PRO guide available: Dota 2 Ownage
Jan 31st
As a seasoned Dota player I think it’s only fair to face the facts – regardless of whether you are new to the game or a pro, getting ahead in Dota 2 will not be an easy task. Spend a little time in a Dota 2 game and you will realize just how challenging – and unforgiving – the players in this community can get. Even if you make up your mind to improve yourself in the game, you will soon realize that you won’t be getting anywhere fast without a proven blueprint for success.
This is exactly what Dota 2 Ownage, the brand-new Dota 2 guide is going to address, and readers will find that this encyclopaedic store of information reveals the blueprint to total domination in practically every aspect of the game. Ethan Storm, a renowned Dota player in his own right has written an incredibly comprehensive and masterful take on the subject, and I was surprised to find that Dota 2 Ownage tackles every topic under the sun in its quest to get you exactly where you want to be in the game.
If you wish to visit the official Dota 2 Ownage site, you may do so here. (Dota2Ownage.com)
Delving into its contents, you will find that it includes basic, yet vital strategies that any respectable Dota 2 player needs to know, such as the lowdown on every single hero in the game as well as a detailed analysis of their strengths and weaknesses, their recommended item builds and different skill build for different roles in the game.
Also worth mentioning are the lengthy articles on various other aspects of the game, including proper usage of items like Bottle, Smoke of Deceit and the key Warding locations in the map. There is also a section of 5 Man Strategy and how to draft an effective and deadly 5 Man team every time, depending on the circumstances.
Another aspect of the guide that needs to be highlighted is the fact that Dota 2 Ownage was written to appeal to players of all skill levels. This is a welcome change from most of the information flooding the Internet that seems to focus solely on the newbie player. Expert players do not get left behind as they will also be able to learn new tricks and strategies sourced from Ethan’s years of experience in the competitive Dota scene.
Before I wrap up this review, I find it pertinent to mention that its creator is so certain of the quality of his guidem he has even backed it up with an iron-clad 60 Day Money Back Guarantee, which basically means that if for any reason you find Dota 2 Ownage not to your liking you can get back your money with no questions asked. This should put your mind at ease about going ahead and checking out this awesome guide. You really have nothing to lose !

“Dota 2 Coming Soon” By IceFrog
Sep 23rd
Today another interesting update was released by the co-producer and producer of original Dota IceFrog.
He stated:
Our original plan was to spend the next year or so in beta, adding new features and slowly growing the number of heroes until we reached a level of parity with Dota 1, at which point we’d release Dota 2 to the world.
He later admits that this was not the best plan and so do the Dota fans. IceFrog and Valve decided to get the game out as soon as possible although a few things still need to be done. Some heroes need to be imported and similar stuff new dvds.
Welcome to the new plan: We’re going to take the current version of Dota 2, which has The International set of heroes, and get it out there as fast as we can. We’ve still got some work to do in a couple of areas, so we’ll be keeping it invite-only for a (hopefully short) period of time.
The players are anxious for the Dota 2 release but the exact date is still being kept a secret.
DotA 2 Free To Play?
Aug 25th
Since the International tournament finished there are many speculations on the Valve’s marketing module on how to market the DotA 2. There are at least three possibilities:
- free to play
- upfront payment of 40-60$ as all the other high-end games cost
- monthly/yearly subscription to DotA 2
Free to play
1.6 million USD was invested merely into International tournament for prizes. Valve got the attention of the gaming crowds from all over the world and will need that money back. So we think that free to play is the least possible solution.
Would you even want F2P game? That means that developer has no obligations whatsoever on how the game will be updated and supported. That could break a game even if it is free.
Up-front payment
Making a 60$ payment for a game is a big decision to make. Many will hesitate and wait for gamers experience before making the purchase.
Valve is expected to continue maintaining servers and developing the game for you. But what when all that money runs out? How good support can we expect after a few years?
Subscription
How about a fee of 3-5$ a month. That makes 36 to 60$ a year. Quite expensive right? Well yes but you can leave the game anytime you want. Valve gets money every month and keeps updating the game and give support to players. Valve would need to make its best on keeping the game interesting and fresh.
What is your stand on all this? In a survey taken on “DotA 2 Price” many reject the so called monthly fee.

How To Prepare To Dominate DotA 2 On Its Release
Aug 20th
DotA 2 is coming soon and sometimes I ask myself when watching Gamescom replays: “What the hell is going on”. If you wish to play dota 2 as a competitive gamer then you will need to prepare yourself and get some skills.
Where to start?
The most obvious answer and probably the best is to play dota. Get yourself Warcraft 3 and start playing dota mod today. Many heroes and many gameplay’s characteristics will be copied into DotA 2 as claimed by Valve and IceFrog as they are trying to keep the good old gameplay intact. There is ton of guides and tutorials on how to approach the game for best results.
Similar genre games to dota are League of Legends and Heroes of Newerth. If I’d need to pick one that resembles dota that would be Heroes of Newerth. The whole gaming experience is very similar to dota as many heroes are very similar.
