Dota 2 Review

The first “sneak peak” at Gamescom gave millions of people their first look at the new Valve’s product DotA 2. It left us a general impression that DotA 2 is a well developed game, which will after its final polish stand beside the top products in a gaming community.

What DotA 2 actually is?

The best way to describe Dota 2 and its genre is action RTS. It has a real-time strategy view but you only control a single hero. Within the game there is a small RPG experience as your character or so called Hero has no experience on the start of the match. As the game progresses you become really powerful with lots of different items and skills. Picking the best combination of Heroes as a team(matches are 5vs5) is crucial for doing any sort of strategy.

User Interface

Before the match-up we could see a user interface for picking the heroes. All is very smooth and designed with a good contrast. The whole interface is designed to match up the atmosphere of the game.

Gameplay

A lot of speculations were made about the gameplay. As promised by Valve and IceFrog gameplay seems very similar to the original DotA as planned. Almost all heroes were imported from the old DotA.

Graphics

The game looks fabulous! Many claim it is a copy of HoN or even LoL but the graphics of DotA 2 give a player a unique experience. Battles are very well detailed, which all sums up to a better gameplay experience. The design goes with the dark/cold atmosphere that DotA represents, while the attacks are very colorful with smooth animations.

There might not be as many animations but DotA 2 gives you a clean, crisp look at detailed animations. No more confusion where everything is glowing and you can’t recognize even your own players.

Sounds

Everything seems to be in place as the sounds greatly improve gameplay. Some older sounds were also implemented like the evergreen “Multi Kill”.

Will there be still a major improvement in graphics? Because I’m not satisfied, it didn’t meet my expectations. The thing is there was no sign of HoN graphics its more like a slightly improve graphics of LoL and theres no originality with it. I’m expecting the graphics to be better than HoN and one more thing the interface was to simple.
I’m sorry for my rude comment. I can’t just sit and watch my favorite game to be a garbage and I want DotA 2 put HoN and LoL to their knees. Well I’m a big fan of DotA anyway and it is still a beta so I hope that dota 2 wil meet not only my expectation but the expectations of many as well.

I feel exactly the same way with the graphics… I really cant stand them, and I was hoping for something at least similar to that of HoN or better, but what you get is LoL graphics… Too bad they didn’t change a thing.

I agree with mon. I’ve loved dota since it first came out, but this “sequel” looks rather unimpressive. You can’t tweak the graphics, keep gameplay the same, and then call it a new game. This is their opportunity to improve on issues, add new features, and really surprise people. Just look at Diablo 3 v. 2 and starcraft 2 v 1
Both of those took what their predecessors did and amped it up 100 times.

dota 2 should put hon and lol to shame, and if it doesn’t, then why should I play it?

Really unsatisfied ! Valve the best graphic company came with that ? what was the budget 1$ ? its a shame and belive it or not the dota 2 will takemost of LOL players (we call LOL players NOOBS who failed playing HON and they want an easy game (kid game) to play )but 0% of HON players . HON still owns with graphic and movement.

Playing a game for its graphics is like watching **** for the story. As I always say graphics never matter as long as gameplay is awesome

Idd i dont care much about graphics but DotA 2 does not have the same gameplay as DotA… very disappointed aswell and was really looking forward to this game… graphics arent very similar to LoL but kinda similar to HoN (been playing both games) and i always felt like HoN had built in delay and way to long autoattackrange on heroes… same with this shit
