Which changes will Valve and Source Engine software bring to the DotA 2 game?

1. Source Engine brings a whole another experience to the table. For those who are familiar with Source engine (Half-Life, Counter-Strike,…) know the realistic environments and smooth high definition gameplay even on older computer systems.

2. As stated in Coaching System article, DotA 2 will provide integrated voice chat. So no need for good old skype or teamspeak to run in the background. Communication is one of the major factors which can take a multiplayer game to a whole new level.

3. Community is very important when talking about online games. We believe that improved communications and reward-system for helping each other will increase gameplay and DotA reputation. A new skill-based match making software will prevent new players engaging with veterans, as a result there will be less verbal friction against “newbies”.

It is too early to say anything else, but one thing is certain, DotA 2 is going to put online gaming to a whole new level.
